A single water droplet is released falling through and infra-red beam. This in turn starts a timer. After a predetermined time a number of flashguns, set to minimal brightness, hence minimum duration are fired. the camera set to bulb mode captures the image.the colour is simply reflected by a sheet of paper in the background. The resulting image is captured form the complex series of events that unfolds as the water droplet bounces, hits reflecting ripples and collides with other droplets.
